Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Advanced and specialized clerical work that is performed in accordance with prescribed and well-established
procedures. Employees assigned to this classification require advanced and technical knowledge of the
department and operations of the unit to which assigned.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs specialized, technical, clerical, record keeping, and election work. Work is performed with aminimum of supervision.
  2. Keeps appointment calendars. Receives and screens calls and refers callers to other employees.Takes notes and minutes of conferences, meetings, and functions as required.
  3. Prepares forms and composes letters. Sets up and maintains specialized office files. Files letters, reports, and related technical information in the prescribed manner. Assembles information for others' use.
  4. Types using PC-based word processing software and processes correspondence, forms, reports, manuals, purchase orders, and related paperwork. Types information or enters data into the computer. Retrieves data for reports.
  5. Performs research and retrieval of records. Conducts statistical comparisons of information. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of department records. Maintains office supplies.
  6. Gives information in person or by telephone to other units and the public, applying knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures of the assigned unit.
  7. Operates office machines such as computers, adding machines, multi-line phones, fax machines, copiers, and other general office machines with such accuracy as can be acquired from their use on the job.
  8. In case of emergency or crisis (hurricane, flood, etc.), the position must respond/perform emergency and recovery duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  9. Employees hired on or after February 1, 2016, must be a tobacco-free person, both on and off the job, for at least one (1) year immediately preceding application and maintain the same tobacco-free status throughout the term of employment.
  10. Head, face, neck (anything above the t-shirt line), and hand tattoos are prohibited except that an employee may have one ring tattoo below the joint of the bottom segment of the finger.
  11. Maintains regular physical attendance during normal work hours as assigned at one of the County's offices or work facilities with the ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the rules, regulations, and procedures of the assigned unit.
  • Knowledge of business English and spelling.
  • Knowledge of mathematics.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Type at a rate of 45 words per minute.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a word processor or computer.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Four (4) years of general clerical experience.

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the insurance provider.

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Acceptable vision (with or without correction)
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without correction)
  • Ability to access file cabinets for filing and retrieval of data.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods
  • Ability to answer the telephone and provide information to the public.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Inside in an office environment.
