About the Organization Established June 15, 1971, Valley Community Services Board is a publicly funded organization where citizens of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta and Highland Counties can receive Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Developmental Services services. Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Description

Valley Community Services Board (VCSB) is looking for Developmental Services Support Coordinators (DSSC) to join our team! Under the direction of the DS Support Coordination Supervisor the Support Coordinator provides ongoing community assistance to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

The Support Coordinator is responsible for linking individuals on their caseload to needed community-based resources and supports, monitor satisfaction, and provide general assistance as needed to enjoy a high quality of life of in the individual’s chosen community.  Applicant needs to be a strong advocate, have problem solving skills, and be a strong team player. 

Benefits

Health insurance as low as $21.16/month for individuals. Family and dependent plans are also available.

Sign-on bonus of $1,500, included in full with the first paycheck.

Nine paid holidays.

Accrue up to 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year from year one. PTO is immediately available upon accrual.

Participation in the Virginia Retirement System.

Professional development assistance provided at no cost.

Essential Functions

Assists individuals in assessing interests, needs, and desires.

Initiates and drives the development of the person-centered planning process through a variety of formal and informal assessments.

Assists the individual in applying for all requested services and supports as identified in the person-centered plan and shared planning documents.

Develops plans and supports to prevent unnecessary psychiatric hospitalizations.

Provides emergency resource information for behavioral or medical needs that may occur outside the normal workday.

Consults with community professionals regarding ongoing treatment and service information, crisis intervention, and emergency resource services.

Maintains an ongoing, consistent relationship with the individuals, to ensure services are received as outlined in person-centered plans.

 
Position Requirements

Requirements:  Must meet criteria for Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) as evidenced by:

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field.

One year of professional/documented experience providing direct services to ID/DD population.

A valid Virginia driver’s license with a driving record with a positive point balance is required.

Salary Information Salary is negotiable based on relevant experience. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
