Description

Position summary: Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and technical data, work from complicated drawings, sketches, samples of verbal instructions. Interpret drawing, plan and layout work, diagnose and correct, use all types of precision measuring instruments and gages issues. The successful candidate must be able to multitask in a diversified work environment, should have a minimum of 5 years experience as a ‘hands-on’ CNC Machinist.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine the amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs...
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Maintain product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Report any potential food safety, legality, quality, or food defense concerns to the plant manager or quality personnel
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection. Employees may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.

Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • Must have ability to use tool room equipment such as grinders and mills
  • Must able to comprehend part and tool prints
  • CNC Programming.
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skill, team player
  • Must be able to follow safety guidelines on the production floor
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair tooling problems on the production floor, identify and implement tooling improvements
  • 5+ years’ hands-on work experience
  • Continuous Improvement experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in an ISO 9001:2008 certified company
