We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a PhD (preferred) or master's degree in statistics for a 10-12 week internship during the summer of 2022.

Objectives/Goals of this Position:

Novel cancer immunotherapies can invoke a highly durable antitumor response, leading to long-term cancer remission and the concept of “clinical cure”. The mixture-cure model is an important statistical methodology used in clinical trials and for reimbursement evidence and is applied to survival data with long-term survivors to ascertain cure. However, the method requires mature follow-up data.

This project will investigate the use of the mixture-cure model in a variety of clinical trial settings and how data maturity impacts the detection of cure. Specifically the objectives are:

  • To extract suitable survival data for fitting mixture cure models and perform a small scale empirical evaluation.
  • To perform a literature search on methodological papers concerned with testing the existence of cured subjects and apply methods in empirical evaluation.
  • To perform a simulation study to further investigate these test statistics.

Primary Duties:

  • Statistical analysis, coding, data extraction.
Position Requirements
  • PhD (preferred) or master-level student working towards a degree in statistics.
  • R coding and data analysis.
  • Experience with statistical methods for survival analysis.
  • Interest or experience in statistical methodology.
  • Interest or experience in performing simulation studies.
