For more information please visit www.astrazeneca.com .   Description Location: Gaithersburg, MD/Remote We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a PhD (preferred) or master's degree in statistics for a 10-12 week internship during the summer of 2022.  Objectives/Goals of this Position: Novel cancer immunotherapies can invoke a highly durable antitumor response, leading to long-term cancer remission and the concept of “clinical cure”. The mixture-cure model is an important statistical methodology used in clinical trials and for reimbursement evidence and is applied to survival data with long-term survivors to ascertain cure. However, the method requires mature follow-up data. This project will investigate the use of the mixture-cure model in a variety of clinical trial settings and how data maturity impacts the detection of cure. Specifically the objectives are: To extract suitable survival data for fitting mixture cure models and perform a small scale empirical evaluation. To perform a literature search on methodological papers concerned with testing the existence of cured subjects and apply methods in empirical evaluation. To perform a simulation study to further investigate these test statistics.  Primary Duties: Statistical analysis, coding, data extraction.   Position Requirements PhD (preferred) or master-level student working towards a degree in statistics. R coding and data analysis. Experience with statistical methods for survival analysis. Interest or experience in statistical methodology.
