Location: Gaithersburg, MD/Waltham, MA/Remote

We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a PhD (preferred) or master's degree in statistics or mathematics for a 10-12 week internship during the summer of 2022. 

Objectives/Goals of this Position:

Exploring the use of historical data and prior information in platform/bandit trials. In clinical trials with multiple experimental treatment arms, Bandit designs aim to allocate more patients to the best performing treatment arms using observed data from the trial. Typically, prior to starting the study, there may be data available on the control arm, experimental treatment arms or both.

Objectives are to:

  • Determine how incorporating prior information affects the allocation to each treatment arm in a Bandit design.
  • Determine whether historical data methods can be used in this setting -- discounting the historical data when it disagrees with data observed in the trial.
  • Establish how historical data methods alone compare to Bandit designs.

Primary Duties:

Understanding statistical methodology, writing statistical code, performing statistical analyses and report writing.

 
Position Requirements
  • PhD (preferred) or master-level student working towards a degree in statistics or mathematics.
  • Knowledge of a writing statistical code, Bayesian statistics, foundation statistical knowledge and preferably some familiarity with the idea of simulations/experience writing simulation code.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0+
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
