(Pediatrics, Cardiology, Allergy and Asthma, Reproductive Endocrinology/Fertility, Orthopedics, OBGYN, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Endocrinology, Pulmonary and Behavioral Health) Full time and part time shifts available. Medical Assistants are responsible for performing a variety of duties that may be both clinical and administrative tasks. This includes assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Expected to provide information to patients so that they benefit from the clinical services. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Place patients in the examination rooms and document for physician the medications, vitals and main reason for the visit. Record Vital Signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse & temperature. Collect blood or other laboratory specimens as requested by the physician. Perform routine laboratory tests and EKGs. Assist the physician with special procedures and examinations as needed. Enter patient information into the Electronic Medical Record. Perform administrative duties when needed: answering phones, scheduling appointments.   Category Medical Assistant   Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt   Location Suffolk County   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time and/or Part-Time   Position Requirements Qualified candidates will possess: High School Diploma or GED Medical Assistant Diploma from accredited institution or community college, preferred Appropriate Certifications in Medical Assisting, EKGs and Phlebotomy Knowledge of Medical Terminology Computer skills including knowledge of EMRs Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility or provider's office and/or documented evidence of externship in a medical office EKGs, vital signs, venipuncture experience   Location: Various Suffolk County locations – Smithtown, Stony Brook, Setauket, Port Jefferson, Nesconset, Centereach, Riverhead, Commack, Islip, Sayville, Riverhead, Mattituck, Southampton, Hampton Bays, and Holbrook. Schedule: Flexible hours/days as needed   In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all covered personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”  Upon receipt of a conditional job offer, candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. The order allows for limited medical exemptions with reasonable accommodations, consistent with applicable law. Physical Demands: Medical Assistants may spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Bending or twisting of the body may also be a frequent occurrence.
