The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Manager of Digital Media, the Digital Media Specialist will aid in the production of content calendars, strategic planning, and daily operations of email and organic social media marketing. You will also be responsible for maintaining the Museum’s brand health and customer satisfaction on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

This is a temporary, full-time position through June 2022.

You Will:

  • Build and maintain content calendars, scheduling, community management, content rollout, and fan interaction for the Museum and campaigns that target specific audiences in the world of film and museums.
  • Monitor social media and cultural trends to identify new opportunities for the Museum.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly reporting for social media, email, and web traffic; collect and translate data into actionable insights to optimize current digital content strategy.
  • Collaborate with department leads to ensure digital strategy aligns with museum best practices and strategic learnings to accomplish department business goals.
  • Project manage various campaigns from ideation to delivery date by leading internal workflows with stakeholders.
  • Communicate digital media campaign details effectively to key stakeholders and leadership at varying levels of digital media knowledge.
  • Balance big picture thinking and immediate needs to pioneer the Museum's digital presence.
  • Coordinate and work alongside the larger MarComm team to build integrated paid media plans when budget allows.
  • Act as co-creative liaison between creative department and agencies to make sure digital assets get produced, QA’d, and trafficked in a timely manner.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 2+ years managing social media channels, planning, and activating audience-first digital media campaigns.
  • Experience using social media management tools required (Sprout, Buffer, Later, or similar).
  • Some experience using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator; light video editing experience preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills, with a clear understanding of how to present digital media recommendations through a data-driven lens.
  • Experience working with fast-paced clients and juggling multiple campaigns at different stages of the digital media lifecycle.
  • Ability to work well independently and with multiple internal and external teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in entertainment, film and/or content distribution preferred.
