The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will lead projects to elevate operational efficiencies across multiple plants. Some of these projects will include automation, Lean improvements, plant layouts and other projects that drive continuous improvement. This position must have strong relationships with cross functional teams and all team members.
Work proactively to identify and lead automation projects that generate cost savings and waste reduction across multiple facilities that align with the goals of the company.
Lead cross-functional teams to identify process improvement projects, employ the DMAIC process of problem solving and produce measurable results.
Work with Quality Control to determine root cause of non-conformances and implement corrective actions and maintain and audit current production SOP’s.
Initiate product trials, document process improvements and provide training materials to the production team.
Partner with raw material suppliers to validate / maintain quality, reduce cost and optimize products for better performance internally.
Work with plant personnel to specify layout of, and program, controllers and other instrumentation for process monitoring, data collection, and improvement projects.
Serve as technical resource for other plant personnel including maintenance, to drive efforts toward the goals of the company.
Partner with the Finance team to produce financial justifications (ROI) for capital projects.
Manage procurement, coordinate installation of and perform validation of new process equipment.
Work proactively on the production floor with operators, technicians, maintenance personnel, supervision and other team members to drive results.
Education and Experience:
B.S. in Engineering with 7+ years of relevant hands-on experience in a manufacturing or process capacity.
Hands-on experience working with, and troubleshooting, industrial controls including robotics, PLC’s, HMI’s, process instrumentation and motor controls.
Experience in the Fiberglass Composites Industry (preferred) or industry utilizing material spraying and cutting processes.
Experience working in an Automotive Tier 1 Supplier (preferred).
Experience working in a Lean Six Sigma environment; ability to understand and use these tools to determine root cause and drive improvements.
Experience with working knowledge of quality system requirements within the ISO9000 & TS16949 systems.
Experience with 2D CAD and 3D modeling software.
Experience working with capital projects including planning, budgeting, managing, etc.
