Program Coordinator - Family Support Center

Seeking to hire a Full Time Program Coordinator for Family Support Center

  • Provide administrative support to the Program Manager. 
  • Offer parent support, education, resources and advocacy in an environment that is safe and non-discriminatory
  • Serve a minimum of 50 families each year by providing compassionate support to empower parents to have a better quality of life, improve their psychological health, reduce levels of stress, feel less isolated, and gain skills needed to cope with their loved ones’ OUD (opioid use disorders)
  • Facilitate weekly support groups for parents of young adults with OUD’s, and offer supportive counseling utilizing the Community Reinforcement Approach and Family Training (CRAFT) model
  • Provides training and administrative support/supervision to Family Support Center team members
  • Maintains confidentiality and immediately reports to management breaches in confidentiality
  • Attend a five-day CRAFT training provided by DMHAS
  • Conduct weekly supportive and psychoeducation groups utilizing the CRAFT model
  • Employ the CRAFT model to guide the caretakers in reducing the loved one’s substance use, influence them to seek treatment, and improve the functionality of their family
  • Assist parents or caretaker of a loved one with an OUD’s examining their interactions in order to improve their communication strategies and reduce emotional stress.
  • Encourage, support, and assist family members to make positive life changes and improve their psychological functioning
  • Assist parents with identifying their loved one’s substance-using behaviors and triggers and demonstrate open-mindedness and flexibility when discussing treatment options/approaches
  • Engage in role-plays with parents to rehearse positive communication skills
  • In collaboration with the parents or caretakers, develop a Wellness Plan which should include self-care strategies, communication strategies, referrals to treatments, resources for other support services and provide goal-oriented support and monitor progress
  • Offer resources to families seeking information on substance use disorder and behavioral treatment. Resources include accessing treatment information through REACH-NJ, NJ Connect, private insurance, DMHAS IME Addictions Access Center, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) options, etc.
  • Provide lists of 12 Step and Recovery Support Group Meeting locations and/or other Mutual Support Groups for families
  • Provide parents with information on peer recovery supports and programs, such as the Opioid Overdose Recovery program (OORP), Recovery Centers, etc.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications/Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Lived experience with a child or family member with an OUD
  • Working knowledge of OUD’s and available resources
  • Valid driver’s license required and must be insurable by agency’s automobile insurance.
