National Garden Sales Executive

Reports to Chief Revenue Officer with dotted line to the Director of Sales Operations

Direct Reports None

Location Remote with extensive travel within US

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Proactively identify opportunities, build national and regional sales relationships, and develop, maintain, and grow Garden Center business. Develop and maintain channels to market including 3rd party distributors and wholesalers, e-commerce, strategic partnerships, and key national accounts. Recommend strategies to accomplish business development objectives and develop initiatives to grow existing and potential business. Own the P&L for Garden Center sales. Drive the market strategy with both commercial and retail customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Own the P&L for IGC sales

· Proactively identify opportunities, build national and regional sales relationships, and develop, maintain, and grow business.

· Develop and maintain channels to market including 3rd party distributors and wholesalers, e-commerce, strategic partnerships, and key national accounts

· Develop in-depth knowledge of Growcentia's offerings to identify profitable business opportunities.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Growcentia and garden industry including key competitors, terminology, trends, challenges, government regulations; demonstrate working knowledge of how Growcentia's offerings match with customers' unique business needs

· Prepare all documentation required for requests for proposals (RFPs). (?)

· Develop and review contracts and act as liaison with the CRO

  • Represent Growcentia at key business functions to generate revenue opportunities
  • Communicate industry and market insight, information, trends, and direction with management

· Assess marketing and sales as well as supplier and vendor operations and recommend improvements as needed

· Support marketing efforts by presenting market research and the voice of the customer to Director of Marketing and suggesting strategies to expand market research

· Share business or marketing opportunities to CRO

· Hire, manage and mentor Garden Center sales team

· Other duties may be assigned, and participation in special projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS

· Understanding the fundamental market and industry drivers, customers, partners, and competitor landscapes. Brings a book of business and has CRM experience

  • Good listening, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret both general business and technical information; write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to handle difficult situations diplomatically; confront issues directly and speak candidly
  • Passionate, confident, well-organized, self-directed, independent, detailed professional with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license along with a clean driving record and must be willing to travel as needed or required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • BS/BA degree in business, marketing, agricultural industry, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of five or more years of proven sales experience within the agricultural and/or garden industry
  • Successful e-commerce experience
  • Must be a consistent, over-quota achiever with a proven track record
  • PC literacy and proficiency in spreadsheet software is essential
  • Basic accounting knowledge in understanding how profit lines are driven
  • Bilingual skills are strong plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and drive a car. While the job duties are not hazardous or strenuous, sometimes the work is performed under pressure when there is a heavy flow of activity or under stress of deadlines. The employee is occasionally required to lift 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is constantly on the road in and out of vehicles and meeting in clients' offices. Generally, the clients' offices are well-lit, air-conditioned offices, but sometimes they are in small quarters.
