Senior Payroll Accountant 

Description

Ensure accuracy of the District Payroll and Time Keeping System. Supervise Payroll and ensure timely and accurate payments to District employees and vendors. Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts and analyze payroll data.

Essential Functions
1. Supervise the District time keeping system and payroll processing as well as coordinate communication, training and relevant changes.

2. Responsible for federal and state tax reporting and communication, garnishments and benefits.

3. Produce annual financial reports for auditors encompassing payroll and leave.

4. Research and ensure accuracy of weighted average rates.

5. Perform monthly payroll related and other general ledger account reconciliations as needed. Analyze and resolve payroll and associated errors.

6. Perform financial analysis and forecasting of salary and benefits to aid management in decision-making and budgeting.

7. Keep current on payroll policies and regulations and ensure compliance.

8. Monitor and understand Teacher's Retirement System of Oklahoma as well as reconcile and ensure accurate payment of insurance/benefits.

9. Develop and disseminate various reports to enable District stakeholders to evaluate and make decisions for the best interests of the District.

10. Perform tasks and duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities assigned by supervision and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure, regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect for the workgroup or worksite.

 
Position Requirements
  • This job requires an accounting background with a minimum of five years of experience in payroll management and processing.
  • Two years Supervisory experience required.
  • General ledger experience preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus

Shift Days  
Education Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance is required.  
Salary Schedule SPMS  
Hiring Range Dependent on experience and education, plus additional $6,900 annual compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
