Email Opening Title DSSS - Summer Research Intern  Location Princeton, NJ   Department Data Science and System Security  Description The Data Science department (http://www.nec-labs.com/research-departments/data-science-systems-research/data-science-systems-research-home) aims to build novel big data solutions and service platforms that simplify complex computer systems management, and to develop new information technology that supports innovative applications, from big data analytics to the Internet of Things. Our research is both experimental and theoretical, covering many domains in data science and systems research, such as: time series mining, graph mining, deep learning, text mining, anomaly detection, signal processing, cloud computing, data centers, software-defined networking and streaming processing. The goal of our research is to fully understand the dynamics of big data from complex systems, retrieve patterns to profile them and build innovative solutions to help end user managing those systems.  We have built a number of analytic engines and system solutions to process and analyze big data and support various applications in detection, prediction and optimization. Our research leads to both award-winning NEC products and publications in top conferences.   Position Requirements Currently, the group has multiple summer intern positions available for graduate students, who will be expected to conduct research with massive data from physical and IT systems and build applications to solve real and complex problems. Outstanding applicants pursuing a PhD in all areas of machine learning, AI, data mining or statistics are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to the following: • Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks • Time series analysis and prediction • Text mining and natural language processing • Graph and information network mining • Federated machine learning, large scale optimization and learning • Signal processing, image processing and computer vision  NEC Labs is located in Princeton, NJ, home of the Princeton University and one of New Jersey's most beautiful and idyllic towns.
