Description

RevClaims, a MedData company, has an excellent career opportunity available as a Paralegal to work in our Jackson, MS office. The schedule for this full time role is Monday- Friday 8am -5pm. 

 

The role of Paralegal is to perform the secretarial and administrative duties for an attorney. The responsibilities of this position focus on supporting the attorney in his / her day-to-day work by performing the essential functions listed below:

 

  • Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
  • Prepares legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, and memoranda.
  • Investigates facts and law of cases to determine legal strategies
  • Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments and hearings, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail
  • Files correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
  • Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
  • Typing letters, memos, reports, and other forms of documentation needed by the attorney.
  • Responding and answering attorney correspondence.
  • Making outbound and receiving inbound calls from attorneys and insurance companies on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to compliance policies and procedures
  • Logically solve problems with little supervision
  • Technology based testing participation.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education

High School Diploma is required.

Associates or Bachelors in Paralegal Studies preferred.

 

Experience

2 years’ experience in either the legal or insurance fields is preferred. Education beyond a High School Diploma may be taken into consideration for lack of 2 years’ experience.

 

Skills Required:

  • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a legal environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional demeanor and attitude
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Basic keyboard skills and computer knowledge
  • Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office, document management, MEC and CM/ECF e-filing, and Westlaw preferred
  • Strong understanding of court system and procedure
  • Experience and success in working independently
  • Excellent time management skills
