Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Director of Development to join our team! The Director of Development will lead our current capital campaign; analysis, planning, execution, and evaluation of the annual fund development plan. This includes coordination and follow through of all grant writing, fundraising activities, donor management, cultivation, and recognition.

 
Position Requirements

Purpose:

The Director of Development leads all activities related to the planning, execution, and evaluation of fundraising efforts including: grants, donor solicitations, capital campaigns, and other fundraising activities. The Director supervises development staff.

Accountabilities:

Remains current on fundraising best practices, marketing and public relations, special events management, volunteer recruitment and retention, and grant management procedures being utilized in the not-for-profit sector.

Collaborates with the CEO, executive directors, and clinical program staff to identify funding needs.

Writes, submits, and manage grants.

Leads capital campaigns and other fundraising events

Identifies potential funders including but not limited to foundations, corporatations, and individuals to solicit and secure donations to meet agency goals.

Works with Wyandot leadership and Board of Directors to create, implement, and evaluate special fundraising projects as deemed necessary.

Creates and maintain appropriate record keeping systems for tracking donor participation and stewardship, as well as identification and cultivation of prospects.

Provides stewardship of current and past donors to Wyandot BHN through regular communication, engagement, and recognition.

Implements an effective donor acknowledgement plan which is timely and results in a strong sense of appreciation to both individuals and corporations.

Provides administrative and staff support to the Board of Directors and Development Committee in fundraising activities, as necessary, and determines annual and long term fundraising goals and objectives.

Works with volunteer and staff committees/task forces to analyze the need and opportunity for fundraising plans which will enhance and advance the mission, goals and objectives of Wyandot BHN.

Prepares detailed plans of action for all approved development projects, including budgets to support their implementation.

Serves as a coach to Board members, agency staff, and community volunteers to ensure that all funding sources, community relations, fundraising communications, and development volunteer programs and activities are consistent with the overall mission and philosophy of each program or service.

Must be able to articulate the mission of Wyandot BHN. through public speaking

Remains abreast of issues related to the mission and services of Wyandot BHN.

Attends all agency functions including agency sponsored special events, third party fundraising events, and board committee meetings as needed.

Remains active in external community networking events, as appropriate and necessary.

Collaborates with and supports internal and community communication efforts as needed.

Assures donors are kept abreast of progress in fundraising projects and the impact on clients, the community, and the organization. 

Regularly reports progress to the President and CEO, Board of Directors and leadership staff.

Qualifications:

Exceptional interpersonal skills, positivity, and team player.

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, public administration, social work, or related field.

Experience in non-profit fundraising, including grant writing and management, annual development and special events.

Certified Fundraising Executive certification or similar accreditation and experience with fundraising software preferred.

Proven experience in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial projections.

Must be detail oriented and have excellent writing skills.  

Work must be accurate, timely, and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of all facets of fundraising and trends.

Ability to operate in a PC network environment, with knowledge of MS Office programs and Google.         

Location/Travel/Work Conditions and Considerations:    

Based at Central office and travel is required to other Wyandot BHN locations, businesses and community sites to meet organization needs.  Minimal additional travel may be required for conferences.
