Work for Carver Companies and you will receive competitive pay (Day rate of $305 + $40 for each full day worked). Job Description: The Able Seaman (AB) is a non-officer member of the deck crew (deck rating position). The main duties and responsibilities of the AB include, but are not limited to: All aspects of line handling: handles ropes and cables during mooring, berthing and docking operations Reports to the Captain and/or Mate Performs a variety of routine maintenance duties including Maintaining the vessel exterior in good order including painting or chipping as needed Responsible for keeping the vessel in a clean, tidy condition and helps ensure a clean, sanitary environment aboard the vessel performs routine inspection and maintenance on emergency and safety equipment such as life rafts and life raft gear Stands watch as required  Participates in crew safety drills follows company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to helping maintain an “incident and injury free” work environment    Minimum Requirements: 0-2 years of experience as an AB Deckhand High School diploma or equivalent Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work rotational 6-hour watches Ability to work 14 days on, 14 days off, revised as necessary Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted Ability to push, pull, bend and stand for long periods of time,  must be able to tolerate working in potentially harsh weather environments  Required Certifications: Merchant Mariners Credentials (MMC) Standards of Training, Certifications and Watchkeeping (STCW) STCW Medical card Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) AB Unlimited preferred, will consider Limited or special Basic Training Able Seafarer – Deck   What We Have to Offer You: Medical Insurance Paid Time Off and Holidays 401k Retirement Savings Plan with up to an 8% MATCH!!
