Director, Mexico Operations 

Description

PURPOSE

The Director-Mexico Operations, leads USA Truck’s Mexico Operations team to achieve operational excellence in safety, performance, customer service, and profitability. This position also works closely with Sales, Finance and other USA Truck Departments to drive profitable results in the cross border US – Mexico freight market.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Operations Management

  • Lead Account Managers, , and Equipment Control Coordinators to achieve maximum utilization and minimize Driver turnover
  • Coordinate with a high level of Teamwork with other departments to execute the strategic plan and operations for USAT Mexico
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and clean terminal facility to enhance driver retention and professionally project the company’s image
  • Effectively represent Mexico Fleet Operations internally and externally; demonstrate and require cooperative efforts between Mexico Fleet Operations and other departments to maximize business opportunities
  • Participate in sales initiatives both individually and with the USA Truck Sales team, in order to effectively build and maintain customer relationships
  • Provide leadership to maintain relationships with Mexico based carriers, in order to ensure adequate service levels, and vendor relationships

 

Team Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise and lead a team of Operations professionals; provide mentorship, guidance, performance planning, goal setting and counseling to develop Operations team members
  • Coach and develop managers to drive long-term performance, develop a winning environment for all team members, and prepare for effective succession for Operations leadership positions.
  • Delegate effectively, ensure Operations team effectiveness that meets or exceeds customer standards, and demonstrate results-oriented leadership

 

Compliance Management

  • Set and maintain high standards to conduct all business in adherence with DOT standards
  • Model USA Truck values by maintaining a high standard for integrity within the Mexico Operations group

 

Finance/Budget Management

  • Responsible for line item P & L, budgets, and financial reporting for Mexico Operations
  • Refine and improve profitability of Mexico Operations Business Model
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or applicable related field or a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with progressive corporate management and leadership responsibilities, including truckload operations, sales and pricing
  • Strong general knowledge of DOT regulations and continuing education in regulatory and compliance

 

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience in the operational management of a truckload operation
  • Continuing education in leadership and management practices
  • Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience
  • Ability to promote a culture of trust and safety

 

Working conditions

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
  • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
  • Occasionally attend meetings in buildings outside corporate office and at off-site locations with various internal conditions, and requiring travel in various external conditions.
  • Travel within the United States and Mexico as necessary.
