Direct Support Job for Interesting individual on the spectrum
Part Time- Thursday evening to Friday morning shift

The Opportunity: Join a well-experienced, enthusiastic team that provides support for a capable young adult with autism. If your idea of a relaxing Sunday evening is to spend time with a quiet and thoughtful companion that enjoys good food and watching a movie, this might be for you. Your client and his Canine Companion require a light amount of oversight rather than much personal attention.
Location/Environment: Beaver Lake area on north side of Asheville at the client’s private home just off the lake. The client and all his team are fully vaccinated, maintain COVID protocols and only an applicant that has also been vaccinated would be acceptable. The team including the client and his family work in a very collegial manner and all the staff have worked with the client for years. A comfortable private bedroom and bath are provided for the sleep portion of the shift.
Hours and Compensation: Thursday afternoon beginning at 3pm through Friday morning by 9 a.m. A blend of awake - 12/hr. and sleep - 9/hr. is paid bi-weekly. If desired, there is also the potential for more hours with the client and the supervising agency which could include a full-time position with benefits and paid time-off.
Training/Position Requirements: Paid training through Skill Creations, the North Carolina-based, non-profit agency that operates the home. A high School diploma or GED from an accredited school is required, a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the agency’s insurability standards is essential. Onboarding will include CPR/First Aid and a variety of online modules that meet mandated requirements for Direct Support Professionals. Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data.
