AFSOC – Principle Ground Tactical MPSE

The Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) – Principle Ground Tactical MPSE (Mission Planning Support Engineer (MPSE) will be supporting service-provided ground operator tactical computing systems and software in addition to supporting USSOCOM/TACLAN/SOMPE provided systems/capabilities.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Supports classified and unclassified Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) devices, and associated cables for use by Special Tactics (ST) personnel.
  • Updates and maintains SOMPE approved TAK Suite builds.
  • Loads, tests and distributes critical mission data, as required.
  • Manage and supervise Senior and Basic-Level AFSOC Ground Tactical support Contractors.
  • Support development, test, and training requirements associated with Battlefield Airman Technical Integration Support Center activities; all such activities will remain within the scope of this PWS.
  • Generate the training syllabus for Senior-Level/ Basic-Level and ST personnel training.
  • Maintain hosted TAK server(s) and ensures mission data is accurate and current.
  • Coordinate with USSOCOM TACLAN Program for latest technology and generates field test criteria.
  • Support meetings with other US Government agencies, as required, to expand capabilities and coordinate/update deployment techniques, also ensure interoperability with Special Tactics operational partners.
  • Lead AFSOC’s TAK strategic planning and integration group.
  • Coordinate ATOs, STIGs and ATCs command wide.
  • Upon SOMPE COR approval, provide training to home station, operational and deployed units. Some training and test sites may require Contractors to wear appropriate tactical personal protective equipment (PPE) (multicam protective combat uniform (PCU), footwear, eye protection, etc.), in such cases the required equipment will be Government provided.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
Position Requirements


  • Will require detailed knowledge of AFSOC Special Tactics ground operation and tactics.
  • Will require a minimum of five (5) years, within the last eight (8) years, operational experience with/or supporting AFSOC.
  • Will have a working knowledge in the following areas/programs:
    • Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK)
    • Windows Tactical Assault Kit (WINTAK)
    • TAK Server and FCD-W mobile device management (MDM) familiarization
  • Will require in-depth knowledge of the Unified Command structure, joint doctrine and joint policies.
  • Will have a detailed working knowledge of processes and procedures for using automated tools to plan, support, and execute Special Operations roles for mission planning.




  • Will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline; or Technical School Certificate related to computer systems; or the equivalent military training


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A+ CE, CCNA – Security, Network+, or SSCP highly desired.


Other Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
