Empower programs are offered to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability. Programming includes afterschool, summer camp, respite, and transition to employment services. Our trained staff facilitates skill building for independence and inclusion through activities such as field trips, social skill building, community internships, recreation, and more. POSITION SUMMARY: The Empower Program Director is responsible for the overall operation of the program. Responsibilities include ensuring best practices, implementing supports based on the personal outcomes of the individual and/or family, and maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and agency standards as required for assigned services. This position participates in the development of long-range program plans and innovative program enhancements. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING INCLUDES: Providing direct leadership, supervision, and administration of the Empower program. Ensuring the delivery of safe Recreation and Transition to Employment activities. Representing the program to parents, participants, potential staff, staff, stakeholders, etc. Hiring, training, and coaching qualified staff. Providing ongoing supervision including annual performance reviews. Promoting positive team and employee interaction and communication. Performing ongoing evaluation of all programs, implementing corrective action as needed to improve operations. Developing and implementing curriculum and program activity changes/modifications when needed. Providing financial oversight of the program which includes approving and monitoring expenditures against budget. Planning and leading Advisory Groups. Assuring compliance and ongoing maintenance of staff trainings, health requirements, and employee files. Protecting the rights of those persons served and supports the right to dignity, humane care, and freedom from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and mistreatment. Assuring adherence to Client Rights and Confidentiality Rules including HIPAA regulations. Developing and leading appropriate crisis response for any emergency, i.e. health or medically related, or an environmental emergency. Following and assuring compliance with all Easterseals Policies and Procedures. Supervisory Responsibility:  Supervision of the Recreation and Wellness Coordinator, Transition Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Service Coordinator, Recreation Paraprofessionals, and Transition Coaches as well as interns and volunteers.   Position Requirements YOU ARE A GREAT MATCH IF YOU: Value the role recreation plays in development. WHAT WE REQUIRE: Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an entity approved by USDOE or CHEA in therapeutic recreation (CTRS desirable), recreation, special education, adapted physical education, or related field. A minimum of 2 years of administrative or supervisory experience in an inclusive setting. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience in providing programming for individuals with physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities.   Strong competency in core professional skills, especially: attention to detail, responsiveness, follow-through, flexibility, and initiative. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Exceptional skills in personnel supervision, interpersonal relationships, discipline, training, and leadership.
