Description

JOB SUMMARY: To oversee the Legal Program and the Domestic Violence Response Team. Directly supervise the DVRT Specialist, Court Liaisons and Legal Volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Direct Services:

  • Provide assistance, to survivor of domestic violence, in preparing for court sessions including restraining orders hearings, motions to enforce, victims proceeding in criminal court proceedings
  • Provide support and court accompaniments in Superior and Municipal Court Program
  • Provide legal options counseling to victims
  • Advocate for clients with law enforcement and court systems
  • Provide appropriate referrals for victims and their children
  • Indirect Services:
  • Supervise Court Liaisons, DVRT Specialist and volunteers
  • Represent Providence House on the Domestic Violence Working Group
  • Provide relevant information to meet grant-reporting requirements
  • Coordinate Cell Phone projects
  • Provide training for law enforcement personnel and other organizations
  • Maintain positive working relationship with Superior Court, Municipal Courts, Police department personnel and the county prosecutors office
  • Maintain current affiliation agreements with local police departments, LSNJ, Ocean/Monmouth Legal Services and Family Court
  • Process incident reports from clients on court and law enforcement actions
  • Complete all necessary court and agency documentation on a timely basis
  • Provide speaking engagements and police trainings
  • Participate in program development
  • Hire, train and supervise staff as appropriate
  • Perform all other tasks as requested by supervisor

Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelors degree in Social Services or Criminal Justice field or New Jersey Domestic Violence Specialist certification. Excellent written and verbal skills. Prior supervisory experience required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED:  Valid driver’s license required.

MANDATED PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:  Providence House is a 24-hour residential program, as such requires staffing at all times.  When accepting a position with this agency it is important to know that the regular shift at the time of hiring is subject to change during the course of your employment, and that at times of staff emergencies or special events you may be required to fill shifts other than (instead of) your regular shift. This may include holidays. ???????
