Acquisition Specialist I

We are seeking an Acquisition Specialist I to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) located in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.


This effort will assist in creating a network of likeminded allies and partners with increased threat reduction capabilities that contribute and advance the interests and security of the United States of America. It will assist in building strategic relationships with key international partners that enhance threat reduction on a global scale. It will also support the resilience of the global nonproliferation framework by building partner capacities to enforce the tenants of that framework.



The Acquisition Specialist I will support all phases of acquisition and contracting (to include grants and other non-contract, assistance agreements) from initial planning through execution and contract/agreement closeout.


Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Administratively support the operation of the Award Fee Board though conduct of activities such as:
    • Production of Award Fee Binders for board members.
    • Compilation of inputs to include editing for clarity and conciseness and final revisions.
    • Operation of the Award Fee IT Tool.
    • Drafting of award fee letters.
    • Support to program areas in award fee plan creation.
    • All related efforts to administer the award fee program for CTR.
  • Assist in distributing and coordinating materials, drafting documents and briefings, administering all acquisition-related planning, generating agendas and IPT minutes, coordinating scheduling and facilitating events, and managing IPT workflows/workload.
  • Assist in drafting procurement request package documents such as Statements of Work, Contract Data Requirements Lists, Proposal Instructions and Evaluation Criteria, and Independent Government Cost Estimates.
  • Assist in providing hands-on support for the preparation of procurement request packages for new awards as well as modifications.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.


Position Requirements


  • One (1) to three (3) years’ related experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable of government acquisition processes from initial planning through execution and closeout.
  • Must have knowledge of financial concepts like developing Rough Order of Magnitude estimates (ROMs), proposal cost/price analysis, and other financial management tools.
  • Must be knowledgeable of FAR requirements.
  • Must be knowledgeable of acquisition tools to support acquisition.
  • Knowledge regarding DOD or DTRA acquisition processes with an emphasis on source selection processes, market research approaches, award board, cost estimating to include drafting of independent cost estimates, and/or CPARS reporting desired.



  • BA/BS degree required.


Other Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to operate independently with supervision to provide acquisition support.

Security Clearance:

  • Secret security clearance.
    • Top Secret security clearance highly desired.


US Citizenship: This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Sawdey Solution Services to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
