Construction Specialist 

Description

The Construction Specialist is part of Elevate Energy's Construction Team in the Technical Services and Building Technology department. The Construction Specialist supports Elevate's programs by managing all construction aspects for housing rehabilitation projects. This includes conducting site assessments, developing detailed scopes of work, reviewing proposals, managing contractors, and conducting quality oversight for completed projects. The Construction Specialist also serves as a technical reference for program managers and provides project management support as needed.

The Construction Specialist reports to the Manager of Construction Services and works closely with the entire Technical Services and Building Technology department, as well as project and program managers. The position is based in Chicago and may require travel throughout the Midwest.

 
Position Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Identify housing rehabilitation needs in single family homes, with an emphasis on identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency, health, safety, and accessibility
  • Develop detailed scopes of work
  • Manage contractor relationships and performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of in-field construction/installation experience required
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience developing and reviewing project scopes of work
  • Experience with single-family housing rehabilitation preferred
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Desire to help people
  • Attention to detail and documentation
  • Desire to learn new technologies and processes
  • Valid Driver’s License
