Job Summary

This position is responsible for administering the day-to-day operation of North Texas Area Community Health Centers, Inc. (NTACHC) computer networks (LAN,WAN, Intranets, etc.). The IT Administrator will also work with the CEO and CFO in making recommendations for various hardware, software and security implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software and all configurations.
    • Configure, manage and provide technical support for the virtual environment, including hosts, operating systems and storage.
    • Design, configure and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
    • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
    • Perform on-going performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization as needed/required. Configure CPU, memory and disk partitions as required.
  • Oversee the administration of systems and servers related to the network to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
  • Ensure the availability, continuity and security of data and information related to the organization.
  • Monitor network performance in order to determine needed adjustments to be made and plan for future adjustments/changes.
    • Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
    • Gather data pertaining to NTACHC needs to identify, predict, interpret and evaluate system and network requirements.
    • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
    • Monitor systems to detect and resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers and site personnel and outside vendors and provide technical assistance and support in a timely manner
    • Provide full support for Microsoft products and the network environment; provide best effort support for all applications.
  • Identify, evaluate, assess, procure, deploy and recover server, desktop, laptop and printer hardware.
  • Provide oversight and administer email system, email security appliance and related communications.
  • Manage domain, DNS, active directory and servicer administration to include user and computer accounts, security groups and distribution groups.
  • Maintain logs related to network functions as well as maintenance and repair records.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on network hardware and software applications.
  • Coordinate server, desktop and laptop security and for oversight of the server.
  • Research new technology and make recommendations for licensing, hardware, and software acquisitions.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to servers, network configuration, network mapping, processes.
    • Maintain policies/procedures related to network administration, maintenance, and security
  • Assess and monitor network security, vulnerabilities, and follow best-practices in accordance with HIPAA Policies and Procedures.
  • Coordinates indoctrination and training of personnel involved in the introductions of new or modified systems and/or equipment.
  • Assists the CFO in the development of written departmental policies, procedures, and security measures to assure effective and consistent information/data processing.
  • Maintains a current knowledge base regarding all applicable industry trends and communicates this information to the CFO.
  • Assists the CFO in the preparation of a computer information systems plan consistent with the agency’s strategic plan.
  • Plan, direct and oversee the backup, disaster recovery and business continuance functions of the IT systems.
  • Maintain and plan the growth of the telecommunications infrastructure to allow for new and efficient methods of communicating.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures related to management information systems
  • Must abide by dress code policy in order to maintain a professional and neat appearance. Must abide by all policies and procedures including but not limited to Employee Handbook, Safety policies and the Code of Conduct.
  • Employee must actively participate in Performance Improvement Activities.
  • Due to the nature of the role and NTACHC services, the employee may be required to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift in order to ensure adequate delivery of patient care and optimal operations.
 
Position Requirements

Performance Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills to effectively perform multitasking, manage multiple deadlines and prioritizing assignments.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out technical literature and regulations relating to computer systems and other various requirements. Ability to make workable and cost-effective recommendations concerning hardware requirements and configurations.
  • Skill in problem-solving techniques and in troubleshooting problems with software and hardware
  • Ability to create an atmosphere which encourages motivation, innovation, and high performance
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Knowledge and experience with NextGen Group Practice Management System and Crystal Reports is preferred.

 

Minumum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Network Systems or related field or a minimum of five years’ experience as an IT Network Administrator.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a professional setting providing IT support as an IT Manager.
  • At least two years experience in Windows based network administration, troubleshooting, or system administration.
