Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Membership and Annual Giving, with a dotted line to the Manager of Visitor Experience, the Membership Associate will be responsible for assisting members visiting the Academy Museum. You will also handle membership upgrades and sales onsite, along with field and return member-related communications. You will thrive in this role if you work well with crowds, are self-motivated, focused, and reliable. You must have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.

This is a temporary, part-time position through June 2022.

You Will:

  • Provide customer service for the Museum's membership program.
  • Oversee membership sales and upgrades onsite.
  • Build relationships with members and strive to make meaningful connections through friendly conversations and a spirit of generosity.
  • Embrace a concierge-like approach to customer service by going above and beyond to make members and visitors feel special and valued.
  • Address member concerns in an informative and friendly manner.
  • Provide efficient, prompt, and accurate customer service to routine and moderately complex inquiries regarding membership accounts and ticketing transactions.
  • Help members get or change reservations to the museum or to programs.
  • Field and return member's phone calls and emails.
  • Help with member events.
  • Work up to 27 hours each week.        
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion.
  • 1+ years’ experience dealing with membership or customer service within a museum, retail, or fast paced environment.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility with shift patterns including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • The drive and energy to play a key role in the success of the Museum.
