Truck Hero is currently searching for a top notch Lean Manufacturing Engineer that would work out of our Corporate Office in Ann Arbor, MI. This role is accountable for driving the development and deployment of Lean Manufacturing strategies across various company Brands. You will be part of an implementation team for an organization-wide Lean Manufacturing Program to achieve business performance improvements. This role will partner with different areas within the organization, serving as the source of Lean knowledge and will actively participate and deliver lean-related trainings, facilitate Kaizen events and will actively work on facilitating plant lean transformations.

You will apply lean manufacturing tools and best practices at various Truck Hero Brands in support of continuous improvement initiatives, reducing costs and maximizing the profitability of the manufacturing operations. You will lead project teams to continuously improve processes and give support to areas throughout the organization. This role will work closely with several plant leadership teams and associates to ensure that best practices and continuous improvements are part of the new organizational culture.



  • Promote deployment of lean tools (VSM, Standard Work, TPM, OEE, SMED 5S, SMED, etc.), that will drive the continuous improvement culture.
  • Lead plant lean transformations, across all Truck Hero Brands.
  • Develop and utilize the following skills:
    • Project Development
    • Implementation and execution
    • Leadership through influence

Lean Teaching/Coaching

  • Train and coach all Associates critical to the proliferation of lean culture, in lean thinking, lean principles and lean tools.
  • Lead cross-functional teams throughout the organization to objectively and continually assess and improve process performance.
  • Lead classes related to job instruction, standardized work, JIT, 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc., to improve process capabilities, eliminate defects and increase production efficiency.


  • Foster a manufacturing environment that is safe, clean and motivates Associates to work at their highest potential, throughout the development of a robust 5S program.
  • Develop and implement methods to improve manufacturing efficiency using Lean and problem solving methodologies (PDCA, A3).
  • Evaluate opportunities for automated equipment throughout the manufacturing processes.


  • Ensure QA tools and standards are applied across all Truck Hero Brands.
  • Team with Plant Leadership to minimize scrap in targeted areas.
  • Support the implementation of lean manufacturing processes that reduce process variability.
  • Utilize A3 Thinking to drive problems to root cause and to implement solutions for structural improvement.
Position Requirements


  • Minimum of 3-5 years as a successful Lean Manufacturing Engineer or 10+ years as a Manufacturing Engineer, including solid Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated work experience in multi-functional teams, ability to work with people from different areas or positions within the organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with implementation of lean manufacturing tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated effective project management skills.
  • Must be goal oriented, data driven, with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Change Agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


  • Travel required up to 75% of the time.
