Position summary: Maintain quality standards by performing routine product testing, line inspections, and process audits, recording the results of all activities. Addresses issues in real-time through communicating out-of-spec findings and helping in the control/containment of suspect product.  Observes and verifies production and quality activities and procedure compliance.

Qualifications required:

  • Prior Inspection experience, 1 year+ preferred.                            
  • Quality oriented - Attention to detail - Organized and thorough
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to use and learn quality measuring and testing devices
  • Basic computer knowledge is required
  • Experience in film printing/lamination, food packaging or food manufacturing a plus
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assessing compliance, safety, and security of products
  • Taking direction from the Quality Supervisor and Manager, directly supports all product testing including spill over from previous shifts as warranted, ensuring test data is entered timely and accurately
  • Approves in-process production by confirming products meets specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating any issues or required adjustments to the production manager/supervisor
  • Sample Testing: Acquires required samples from designated areas/points and complete testing in lab in accordance with control plans.  Record results in the Quality Tracker, lab files, and/or other records as required, and communicate with Supervision and staff any concerns or opportunities for improvement
  • Process & Line Inspection & Audits: Records inspection results by closely observing production activities, in process records, and personnel activities as they relate to Quality/GMP
  • Product & Trial Material Identification & Containment: Helps ensure products are appropriately labeled (e.g., green sheets, MRB pink slips, MRB yellow sheets, and labels).  Approves trial, WIP, and finished products by confirming specifications
  • Conducts inspections and testing on incoming (received) materials
  • Helps monitor measuring and testing equipment for correct usage; re-training on correct use when necessary; notifying QC Supervisor of needed repairs
  • Masters all required testing approaches and assists supervisors across the production floor with training/re-training of personnel on inspection tests and procedures as warranted.
  • Report any potential food safety, quality of food defense concerns to the Quality Management & Manufacturing managers
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • Ability to use caliper, micrometer and other test equipment
  • Basic computer knowledge is required
  • Experience in food packaging a plus
  • Experience in film and or converting a plus

  • Hardworking, Hands on type person
  • Identify quality parts and non-conforming parts in accordance with company specifications
  • Utilize Proper containment and investigation of all MRB cases

Physical demands:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work environment:

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection. Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.
