Position summary: Since maintaining quality demands adaptation to customer expectations, the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager supports the Director of QA in employing a variety of measures to place quality at the heart of Cheer Pack. These measures include a Quality Management System compliant with a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), (e.g. Brand Reputation thru Compliance Global Standard (BRCGS) philosophies such as Total Quality Management, and methodologies such as Continuous Improvement. The QA Manager is also responsible for ensuring Cheer Pack’s controlled documents are in accordance with the BRCGS Packaging Materials standard as well as customer requirements. Further, ensures that all internal products and external materials comply with Cheer Pack’s quality procedures, work instructions, specifications, and customer requirements. Lastly, the QA Manager oversees the QA staff.
Qualifications required:
- Minimum 6 years of experience, in a quality/manufacturing environment
- Understanding of how to implement and maintain compliance to a GFSI standard
- Experience in development and implementation of HACCP Programs
- Quality system audit experience
- Ability to supervise
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Experience writing and performing root cause analysis and corrective action plans
- Continuous improvement and document control implementation
- Qualifications desired:
- Experience in film lamination and flexible packaging
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Through the implementation of the Quality System and with the support of Manufacturing/Quality personnel, is responsible for helping to ensure that all products manufactured are in accordance with the company’s quality assurance program and that quality/reliability standards are in place to satisfy the customer
- Assists with coordinating and hosting customer audits, delegating as appropriate
- Assists with coordinating and scheduling supplier audits, delegating as appropriate
- Works with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
- Assists Director of QA in monitoring and reporting on the performance of the quality management system and produces data and report on performance, measuring against set indicators, as requested
- Assist Director of QA with establishing criteria and specifications for Certificates of Compliance, and issuing thereof
- Assists with management of the nonconforming product system including hold management (MRB) and NCRs, dispositions, and related IFS data
- Assists Production Manager with root cause analysis and corrective action plans relating to internal and external defects
- Oversees the QA staff, lab, and document control personnel
- Oversees document control and record keeping systems; including creating, revising, reviewing, and approving controlled documents and ensuring that records are retrievable and meet CPNA requirements
- Oversees employee training program
- Participates in HACCP and risk assessment activities
- Responsible for calibrations of required equipment
- Upgrades current quality improvement processes
- Implements and maintains appropriate GFSI certifications
- Keeps up-to-date of appropriate regulatory requirements as well as GFSI and industry standards
- Report any potential food safety, legality, quality, or food defense concerns to the Director of QA and other staff as applicable
- Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
- Helps maintain product safety, legality, regulatory compliance and quality systems
