Psychiatric Emergency Support Specialist - PESP 

Description

The Bergen County Psychiatric Emergency Screening Program “262-HELP”, a program of Care Plus NJ, is seeking to hire motivated full-time and part-time Psychiatric Emergency Support Specialists. 

Various schedules are available including days, evenings, and overnights.  All schedules include one weekend shift and all FT/PT positions are union positions.

Job summary

  • Answering 24-hour crisis hotline and telephonic triage
  • Supportive crisis intervention counseling, consultation and risk assessment
  • Collaboration with local law enforcement, community mental health providers and medical professionals
  • Referral and linkage of clients in need of mental health and community resource information
  • Providing psycho-education and advocacy
  • Completing all legal and program documentation within agency/department guidelines

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a mental health related field OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a mental health related field plus 2 years of experience in a mental health setting
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable under Agency's automobile insurance policy
