Base Wage $19.10-$21.00 per hour based on education and experience

General Summary

The Assistant Director assists the Center Director in the overall operation of a childcare center in accordance with state and local laws, licensing requirements, national accreditation, Excelerate Illinois, Early Head Start Performance Standards, and company policy to provide an outstanding experience for the staff, children and their families. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for all staffing needs including scheduling and payroll functions, to meet the goals of the center. This position is the Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) expert which monitors the food program to ensure compliance and provide support for SALFSC Skip-a-Long center to include day-to-day maintenance, training, and data tracking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards; implement improvements where needed.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Coordinate staff schedules, monitor and approve timesheets.
  • Track compliance standards in licensing and other requirements for staff.
  • Screen applications for qualified candidates; schedule interviews with director
  • Manage onboarding processes for new employees.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of CACFP regulations of ODE, USDA, CHA, etc.
  • Conduct training sessions/workshops as required and needed for newly hired staff and ongoing education.
  • Provide customer service to child care centers and staff to ensure they are claiming and meeting program requirements.
  • Travel to four Skip-a-Long sites within the QC area to conduct unannounced and announced monitoring reviews.
  • Create and analyze reports to identify areas of improvement and/or out of compliance.
