SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Chair of the History Department
POSITION SUMMARY: The History Department at Moravian University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice in Public History, a three-year, renewable position, to begin in the 2022-23 academic year. Moravian University is situated in historic Bethlehem, which offers opportunities to develop a public history curriculum while working with local museums, historical societies, and archives. The successful candidate will have a teaching load of 4/4, which will include an introduction to public history course and overseeing internships. Preference will be given to scholars specializing in underrepresented or historically marginalized groups or the Global South.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 4:4 teaching load
- Evaluate student performance in accordance with standards established and defined by the History Department
- Participate in service to the University and the department through academic advising, committee membership, and/or mentorship of student clubs and organizations
- Contribute to the University's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community
- Participate in professional organizations and societies
- Develop a public history curriculum
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations
- Other assigned tasks

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent degree) in Public History, History or a related field is preferred, ABD candidates will be considered. All applicants must have demonstrable skills necessary for excellence in teaching.
