The Role

Torch.AI is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to the end-to-end development of customer-facing documentation for Torch products. This role requires a unique blend of software development/programming, written communication, design, editorial, and project management skills.


  • Documentation includes:
    • User guides
    • Installation and configuration guides
    • API developer guides, including microservices and endpoint documentation
    • Online help systems
    • Release notes
  • Develop an information architecture and content management system suitable for large-scale (1,000+ pages) documentation projects.
  • Develop and enforce a standardized approach that supports content re-use and single-sourcing to multiple output formats (PDF, HTML, DOCX, etc.).
  • Develop an editorial style guide to ensure consistency across documentation deliverables.
  • Assist User Experience (UX) in writing user interface text according to UX best practices.
  • Provide additional writing and editorial assistance to Torch:
    • Marketing materials, such as blog posts and white papers
    • Policies and procedures for NIST audit compliance
    • Training and educational materials, including demos, tutorials, technical overviews, and FAQs
  • Continuously update content with current information.
  • Build and manage a Technical Communications Team at Torch. Hire, train, and manage additional technical writing staff as needed. Edit other writers' content and documentation for consistency.
  • Leverage the tracking and ticketing system used by Engineering to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Test products for issues and provide insight to resolving problems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, User Experience, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Customer Enablement.
  • Manage end-to-end Nexus EDO documentation development, which includes yielding expert knowledge of an industry-standard documentation tool (Madcap Flare) and the project management skills to deliver professional-grade, 100+ page user manuals.
  • Serve as a “knowledge manager” by curating a centralized library of essential Nexus documentation.
  • Apply the above knowledge to ad-hoc writing and marketing projects at Torch.AI.
Position Requirements


  • Technical skills necessary to function as a junior-level Nexus developer in order to successfully comprehend and document the system. Technical skills include: AI/ML concepts, REST API, OpenAPI, XML, JSON, Postman, curl, WSO2.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the terminology used by professionals in the AI/ML industry, to ensure that published documents convey industry expertise.
  • Cyber security industry knowledge which can be applied to compliance documentation or other security-related needs.
  • General business insight which can be applied to smaller, miscellaneous projects outside of the traditional Technical Writer role.
  • Fully capable of delivering training, both internal and external, to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fully capable of functioning as a team lead or manager, if/when documentation team expands.
