Staff Accountant 

Location Fifth Group Restaurants  

Fifth Group Restaurants, Atlanta's most innovative restaurant company, is in search of an experienced Staff Accountant to perform day-to-day accounting processes with a primary focus on Accounts Payables and Daily Sales reconciliation. The Staff Accountant will join a team providing accounting services and financial analytical support to Fifth Group Restaurants and Bold Catering & Design.

This team member will be held responsible for consistent and accurate work as well as for consistently meeting all deadlines. The Staff Accountant will interface with restaurant operations as well as all support functions and must develop and maintain excellent working relationships within the department as well as with all company managers.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of basic accounting principles and applications and be committed to producing excellent work product. In addition to basic responsibilities, in-depth responsibilities will evolve from recording all accounting transactions necessary to build period financial statements.

Basic responsibilities include:

  • Invoicing batch and daily sales importing, auditing, correcting, posting and filing
  • Entering and processing Accounts Payable
  • Researching, sorting and distributing invoices for adjustment
  • Reconciling vendor statement discrepancies, electronic payments, daily sales and event sales
  • Preparing journal entries and inter-company billing and entries
  • Verifying bank deposits, auditing and balancing daily sales
  • Communicating with team and managers, as required
  • Researching, responding, following up regarding chargebacks, customer issues, discrepancies, service-related incidents
  • Participating in the period end processes related to auditing, performing reconciliations, creating and posting adusting entries to the general ledger, and maintaining workpapers for balance sheet accounts
  • Participating in Accounting department business planning process
  • Communicating with restaurant managers regarding P&L exceptions, payment discrepancies, vendor issues, and service-related incidents
  • Recording and tracking expenses for FGR Support (e.g. facilities, repairs and maintenance, marketing, information technology)
  • Assisting with database maintenance/management
  • Resolving system issues, as applicable
  • Filing and storing transaction documentation
  • Managing applicable supply ordering for locations to support ongoing financial processes, banking, etc.
  • Other duties as required, as determined by management and allocated among accounting team members

Position Requirements
  • 3-5 years of full cycle accounting operations experience preferred
  • Accounting degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in a Microsoft Windows operating environment
  • Experience with Sage 300 (enterprise management and accounting applications) or similar accounting system is helpful, but not required
  • Restaurant/hospitality industry experience (operations and/or accounting) a plus
