Job Summary:

The Director of Training and Regulatory will report to the Executive Director. An exempt management position responsible for ensuring the organization remains in compliance with the CPMP compliance program. Has detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements, and medical practice polices. The incumbent will assist CPMP and evaluate existing Stony Brook Community Medical (SBCM) practices for compliance with service performance and utilization by reviewing medical records. The goal is to implement CPMP compliance activities in SBCM working with key medical and clinical leadership. This includes the, coordination, implementation and evaluation of those activities. Achieving desired clinical outcomes is the mission of SBCM. In addition, reviews, analyzes and assures the final diagnoses and procedures as stated by the practicing providers are valid and complete. Verifies accuracy of coder’s office and hospital procedures for providers to ensure proper reimbursement. Provides education to the providers to ensure proper completion of EMR and assignment of ICD-10-CDM, HCPCS and CPT codes. Responsible for EMR implementation, development and training programs.

Specific Duties:

  • Initiates, maintains and revises policies and procedures for the operation of the CPMP compliance program.
  • Works to promote CPMP compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, rules and policies of governmental authorities and payers.
  • Works with CPMP on compliance education and training.
  • Assist CPMP with internal compliance audits and reviews. Responds to incidents of suspected compliance violations by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
  • Takes appropriate actions as approved by the Executive Director. Observe patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA
  • Audits medical records to ensure proper coding completed and to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies.
  • Formulate strategic goals (short, medium, and long term)
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of internal culture and capabilities of our business including internal management structure, workflow, and software platforms
  • Create detailed plans for attainment of strategic goals and establish metrics to guide and monitor progress towards those goals
  • Take personal responsibility for the implementation of select projects
  • Regularly assesses the training needs of staff using interviews, surveys, observation, audits, and quality improvement data and facilitates the development of departmental training goals.
  • Consults with department directors and managers on problems that can be solved through training.
  • Perform internal consultancy regarding the feasibility of proposed projects and improvement of existing workflows
  • Help to build a workplace culture capable of meeting business goals and lead by example
  • Evaluate overall business performance by gathering, analyzing, interpreting data and metrics
  • Oversee, support, and mentor the supervisory team responsible for day to day management
  • Maintain knowledge of industry rules and guidelines
  • Coordinate with parent management services organization
  • Maintains and updates OSHA, HIPAA and Airborne Infectious Disease Manual
  • Investigates Patients complaints
  • Works with Medical Director on Patient discharges
  • Overseas with the IT team all clinical interfaces with the EMR

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Federal laws and regulations affecting Healthcare requirements.
  • Working knowledge of EMR.
  • Five years or more medical practice management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with physicians, managerial leadership and practice staff.
  • Analytical, decision-making and problem-solving proficiencies with close attention to detail and up-to-date knowledge of accounting, budgeting, current medical billing practices and EMR technology.

 

In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all covered personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.” Upon receipt of a conditional job offer, candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. Physical Demands:

May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Bending or twisting of the body may also be a frequent occurrence. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, and must have manual dexterity to work computer systems and keyboard.
