About the team:

We are seeking a software engineer consultant to work remotely or in person to assist with an internet of things (IoT) project. The successful applicant will work closely with a small team of engineers to develop, troubleshoot, and improve software for the project. This applicant will have a demonstrable track record in developing IoT systems and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues. Sciton has an active in-house research and development team and an intellectually stimulating working environment. As a growing company, Sciton also provides excellent opportunities for recognition and career advancement for driven employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop an IoT system based on RabbitMQ server-listener-client infrastructure.
  • Stress test and debug infrastructure.
  • Develop architecture for cloud-based data analysis, storage, and presentation.

 

 
Position Requirements

 


Essential Requirements:

  • BS in software engineering or similar.
  • Four (4) years of proven experience.
  • Experience with creating and testing IoT systems with TLS encryption.
  • Experience with MQTT servers.
  • Experience with RabbitMQ.
  • Demonstrated ability to finish software projects.
  • Ability to meet virtually or in-person during business hours—Pacific Time, 3-4 times a week.
  • Experience with web design. (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX)
  • Experience with database programming. (SQL, Big Query)
  • Experience with programming languages. (Python, C++, Erlang, Lua, Mathematica)
  • Familiarity with Linux.
