Description

Job Summary:

Manage the process of Margin Analysis which includes supervising the analyst, development of base costing data, creation, warehousing and reporting of margin analysis essential information in support the commercial aspects of the business.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage the analyst team conducting cost and margin discovery activities
  • Ensure that desired margin analyses are prepared based on the expectations of departments desiring margin analysis.
  • Develop and oversee the planning and execution to develop and upgrade cost models to keep the system current with up to date information.
  • Work with Accounting and HR to keep labor data needed for cost models up to date.
  • Work with Purchasing to ensure that materials costs are updated and are reflected in cost models.
  • Conduct improvements as necessary to improve the efficiency of data collection and reporting of data.
  • Assist in developing pricing for new and existing services
  • Analyze historical pricing and margins and recommend adjustments
  • Evaluate market, trends and influencers of the industry related to services and pricing
  • Develop cost methodologies and models
  • Conduct special studies to establish baseline pricing for services provided by the company
  • Prepare data to assist Sr. Management in preparing pricing structures
  • Prepare accurate and analytical reports to evaluate data
  • Evaluate volume of services and the impact of discounting
  • Present analytical data and charts evaluating pricing impact on profitability

Supervision:

  • This role will supervise incumbents and requires independent discretions and judgement for area of expertise.
 
Position Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Math, Accounting, Finance, Statistics or related degree
  • Experience in cost accounting desired
  • Life Sciences experience
  • Very strong analytical skills demonstrated in prior work experiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to use analytical data mining software such as SSRS or Crystal Reports preferred
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment but remain detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other
  • Communications/computer components
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens
