Engineer I 

Description

Entry level Engineering position on path to licensure as a Professional Engineer. Acquires limited knowledge and develops basic skills by working closely with the City Engineer and other staff members in the design and construction management of a wide range of paving, drainage and utility projects. It requires teamwork and a desire to learn through application of engineering fundamentals.

Acquire an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Share and demonstrate the organizational values of integrity, innovation, passion, partnership and responsiveness.

Apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform tasks.

Perform routine technical work which does not require previous experience.

Collect data and gather information or documents.

Perform standard computations or analysis.

Prepare drawings and visual aids.

Observe construction activity.

Perform basic survey work.

Communicate with the public and staff

Present ideas in an understandable manner to both technical and non-technical persons.

Perform other duties assigned by the City Engineer

 
Position Requirements

Knowledge of Civil Engineering fundamentals.

Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.9

Ability to work in team settings.

Ability to build effective working relationships with associates, public and other agencies.

Graduate from a four (4) year accredited Engineering School.

Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and registered as an Engineer Intern in the State of Georgia or have ability to obtain same within six (6) months.     

Must have a valid driver’s license

 
Physical/Environmental Requirements The environmental working conditions of this position include working inside and very frequently being subjected to low noise. Occasionally, employee works outside with exposure to hazardous machinery, electrical hazards, wet surroundings, loud noise, high/low temperatures and dust or fumes. Mental stress or pressure for this position is constant.
