Job Summary

Under the supervision of a licensed dentist and the Dental Administrative Operations Manager, the Dental Assistant (DA) will perform chairside duties in all phases of oral surgery, restorative, endodontics, prosthodontics, and periodontal treatment. As a member of the dental team, they will have joint responsible for monitoring the department to ensure it is stocked with all necessary supplies, it is clean, and all equipment is properly sterilized and in good working condition. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with Yellowhawk’s mission and vision statement.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Establish and maintain respectful and professional relationships with patients and serve their needs by assisting the dental team in providing excellent patient care and customer service.
  2. Establish and maintain respectful and professional relationships with all members of the dental team and all Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center employees.
  3. Specific duties include but are not limited to setting up equipment for patient treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, clean-up, capturing radiographs of good diagnostic quality, and sterilizing instruments.
  4. Instrument and operatory infection control.
  5. Preparation of instrument trays.
  6. Instructing patients on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
  7. Maintenance of Dental practice records and supplies.
  8. Scheduling appointments.
  9. Take alginate impressions, pour, trim models, and fabricate customer trays.
  10. Provide instructions and education to patients on all aspects of preventative oral care, brushing, and flossing techniques.
  11. Accurately record and code appointment information using dental software.
  12. Strictly follow all sterilization protocols.
  13. Must obtain and maintain continued education requirements for Dental Assistant license.
  14. Works directly with Dental Administrative Operations Manager on job performance improvements, work assignments, and scheduling days off.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma/Equivalent
  2. Must be willing to obtain EFDA Certification in 18 months.
  3. Demonstrated customer service experience.
  4. Word processing and computer experience.
  5. Possess outstanding time management, communication, and technical skills
  6. Can-do attitude, a proactive nature, a strong sense of ownership and integrity and a desire to continue to learn and grow.
  7. Strict adherence to principles of confidentiality of information.
  8. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
  9. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  10. Must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Dental Office Experience
  2. X-ray Certification

Salary $36,046 - $54,080 to $41,435-$62,248 annual
