Term of Service
To successfully complete their half-time service (900 hours) and become eligible for education award, AmeriCorps Members must serve an average of 20 hours per week between September 13, 2021 and August 12, 2022.
Opportunity Village campuses are open five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 7am to 7pm. Classes taught by Education Specialists will be between 9am and 5pm each day at each campus. Education Specialists are expected to be available to teach at least two or three days a week during this window. The rest of the hours will be filled through content development and other education-related activities and can be completed flexibly, on a schedule developed with approval from the AmeriCorps Program Manager.
The primary service location will be Opportunity Village main campuses - the Oakey Campus, Buffalo Campus, or North Campus. Each member will be assigned a primary location upon onboarding but may be asked to cover alternate locations as needed or have the option to make up hours at alternate locations as well. Service will take place in program spaces, similar to a classroom setting in small rooms or multi-purpose spaces indoors at each campus.
