Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) is looking for a talented leader to deliver industry partner and product/service marketing communications programs to promote CDFIs and grow audience and engagement. You will manage and capitalize on strong relationships with industry partners to advance our work and deliver value to our partners. You will provide a comprehensive and cohesive communications strategy for both internal and external audiences and coordinate a cross-functional team to deliver marketing objectives. This role delivers continued growth in event attendance and manages event production for OFN’s signature events and ensures consistency of message and brand integrity across all touchpoints.

 

OFN is a leading national network of CDFIs (community development financial institutions) headquartered in Washington D.C. In pursuit of our mission to align capital with social, economic, and political justice, OFN supports its 350+ member CDFIs with money, strength, and voice to drive transformational change in underserved rural, urban, and Native communities nationwide. We help money flow to people and places where traditional finance doesn’t reach. As a financial intermediary, OFN secures private capital for CDFIs through strategic partnerships with leading corporations such as Google and Twitter, mainstream financial organizations such as Bank of America and Wells Fargo, and philanthropic organizations such as the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

 

OFN builds the strength of its membership and other CDFIs through financial products and services, events, training, research, policy advocacy, and visibility. Currently OFN has an on-balance sheet loan portfolio of $150 million and manages capital on-and off-balance sheet of nearly $1 billion and has plans to bring additional $1 billion in new private capital to the industry.

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify partner and product/service communications outreach strategies and set performance metrics.
  • Cultivate productive relationships with communications counterparts at OFN’s corporate, bank and philanthropic partners.
  • Manage all aspects of marketing OFN’s CDFI industry products and services, including copy and creative. OFN offers CDFI training and peer learning content, direct financing, advocacy, and industry research.
  • Support investor and funder recruitment by developing marketing collateral such as pitch decks, information sheets, and infographics.
  • Amplify CDFI impact through OFN’s communications channels, including blog posts, social media, videos, and website presence.
  • Amplify industry partner contributions to the growth and success of the CDFI industry through blog posts, social media, videos, and website presence.
  • Deliver marketing assets, such as impact metrics and success stories, for industry partners to use in their own marketing about their investment in CDFIs and CDFI borrowers.
  • Design and direct OFN event marketing, including identification of key audiences, key messages, outreach strategy, tactics, and timetable to drive desired results.
  • Create marketing toolkits for external third-party use, including assets for newsletters, emails, and social media.
  • Supervise staff members and outside communications contractors as required.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 7+ years of direct work experience in lieu of a degree; Graduate Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years professional experience in Marketing or Strategic Communications required.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity required.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in community/economic development, community organizing, social justice advocacy or public policy advocacy preferred.
  • Strong writing, financial and analytical experience required.
  • A strong passion for, understanding of, and commitment to OFN’s mission, vision, and values; familiarity with the CDFI industry strongly preferred where one can be a fearless advocate, who is confident and resilient in OFN’s fight to drive capital into low-income communities.
  • Smart, quick seeker of knowledge with the ability to think creatively and adapt content for social media, blog posts, and forums.
  • Supervisory expertise and demonstrated leadership ability required.
  • Ability to set priorities and delegate tasks effectively required.
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills required.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must have strong creative judgment and build relationships while also collaborating with business partners to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to understand, create and modify external communications and publications as needed.
  • Ability to manage and market organizational events.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work constructively with diverse constituents is required.
  • In-depth understanding of digital and other media promotions.
  • In-depth understanding of Web site development and maintenance.
  • Light to moderate travel required (10%-20%of time).
  • Understanding of and commitment to community development required.
  • No extraordinary physical requirements beyond ability to travel.
  • Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
