Junior Accountant 


Job Summary

  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.
  • Back-up to payroll Admin including preparation of journal entries and support for processing biweekly payroll
  • Provides payroll and timekeeping reports (NOVATIME) to managers as needed
  • Monitors payments for all benefits; reviews for accuracy and timeliness
  • Compiles recurring journal entries; makes entries into Traverse accounting system
  • Provide bank recs to Controller/Asst Controller for review
  • Provides back-up to AR and AP staff
  • Works with Controller and CFO in preparing annual agency budgets and G & A calculations
  • Enters line item budgets into accounting system
  • Prepare monthly department budget vs actual reports; identifies key variances
  • Assists CFO in preparing monthly reports in preparation for board and committee meeting
  • Prepares monthly consolidated balance sheet and income statements
  • Review and analyze contract expenditures
  • Review and analyze monthly and quarterly spending; identify when budget mods are needed
  • File required government contract documentation
  • Assists with preparation for annual consolidated audit; provides schedules and related analysis
  • Maintain fixed assets subsidiary ledger and depreciation schedule
  • Maintain vehicle schedule; monitor, fuel, and maintenance
  • Assists in preparing ad hoc reports for Census and Dept of Labor

Education & Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; spreadsheet software; accounting software.
  • Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance.
