What You Would Be Doing

The primary objective of the Medical Billing Supervisor is to perform all aspects of the billing process in a timely and accurate manner and oversee the work and performance of direct reports.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for collections of all client accounts, proactive research of all troubled accounts, and communication with management staff regarding collection activities.
  • Ensure compliance with FQHC requirements, including the implementation of the health center’s sliding fee scale.
  • Complete month-end close procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure understanding of new funding sources by participating in continuous education and facilitate learning opportunities for staff.
  • Provide ongoing education to providers to ensure optimal revenue generation and adherence to billing-related rules and regulations.
  • Implement billing audits to ensure compliance and assist with financial audits as needed.
  • Develop efficient processes to support all AR activities, especially when new revenue streams arise.
  • Prepare reports for management staff and communicate process and procedural issues to ensure timely collections.
  • Responsible for providing meaningful and accurate information to both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of individuals served.
  • Hire, train, and supervise billing staff. Monitor work and performance of direct reports, addressing issues as needed.
  • Communicate openly and honestly with supervisees and colleagues.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Responsible for all aspects of billing including, but not limited to collecting necessary billing documentation, preparation of invoices, contract maintenance, and posting payments.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education/ Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least three years of experience in revenue cycle management.

Preferred Education/Qualifications

  • Experience in the billing of primary care, behavioral health, or FQHC services.
  • Certification in coding preferred.
  • Dental billing experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

The prerequisite for this position is candidates either need to be fully vaccinated or willing to get vaccinated.
