Position Product Technologist  
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Description

Position Summary:

The position of Product Technologist covers key rolls of the Quality Control and Product Development Team(s). These essential roles include, but not limited to, the following.

  • Lab & Instrumentation: oversight of all aspects of lab equipment from developing and implementing proper good laboratory practices (GLP) to equipment maintenance & calibration/validations upkeep/scheduling.
  • Product Conformance: oversight of all product conformance measures including but not limited to records management, lab sourcing (internal and external), specification validation, product release verification, product corrective actions, customer complaints response and internal/external audit support.
  • New Product Development & Product Renovation Projects: assist in research data collection, project scope development, product trials and validations, data collections and reporting along with developing appropriate product specifications.
  • Regulatory Upkeep: learn and understand current and future regulatory outlook to ensure product specifications meet regulatory requirements.

Supervision Summary:

Supervises quality assurance members and laboratory department.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Quality, Quality, Quality!
  • Assist with putting in place tests to determine quality of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products. Control process and product performance through the management of tests, documentation of procedures, and education and training of employees.
  • Manage the Mullins Cheese Inc. quality system and related customer requirements
  • Maintain quality manual and control procedures
  • Comply with all processes and procedures of the BRC to assure safe, quality product
  • Act as a liaison with external parties in all matters relating to the Mullins Cheese Inc. quality system
  • Ensure the availability of resources and information necessary to support the operation, monitoring, and continual improvement of quality system processes
  • Root cause analysis investigations
  • Determine the monitoring and measurement to be undertaken to provide evidence of conformity to product specifications
  • Manage the processes involved with the calibration of measuring and monitoring devices used to ensure conformity of product specifications
  • Maintain an effective audit program, taking into consideration the status and importance of the processes and areas to be audited, as well as the results of previous audits
  • Maintain records of the nature of nonconformities and of any subsequent actions taken, and ensure involvement of appropriate personnel to address these situations
  • Work with others to determine the necessary competence for personnel performing work affecting product quality
  • Maintain appropriate records of education, training, skills and experience
  • Assist with communication regarding the effectiveness of the quality management system via meetings, corrective and preventive actions and project teams
  • Communicate ongoing quality performance summaries through company meetings and company bulletin boards

Position Requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Bending and twisting with 50lbs. in hand(s)
  • Long Periods of Standing and Walking
  • Lifting 50 lbs. from the ground
  • Good finger/hand/multi-limb dexterity

Non-essential Job Functions

  • Other duties as required or directed will occasionally arise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Willing and Able to perform all job essential functions with or without accommodation
  • Willing and Able to be exposed to/perform all physical and environmental factors
  • Education: Technical/Associates Degree in Dairy/Food Science or equivalent subject
  • Experience: 1-3 years of dairy related position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Willing and Able to perform all job essential functions with or without accommodation
  • Willing and Able to be exposed to/perform all physical and environmental factors
  • Certifications: Forklift Certification
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy/Food Science or equivalent subject
  • Experience: 4-7 years of dairy related position, including training in HACCP
