SUMMARY:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the Center, its building, grounds and parking lots are monitored for the security and safety of ODCHC employees, patients and visitors. This position welcomes and assists patients, their families and visitors entering the health centers. The Safety Specialist/Greeter answers questions, provides information and directs people to the health center location they need, thus creating an atmosphere in the health center that is caring, yet efficient.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors center buildings (exterior and interior), grounds, and parking areas for unusual or unsafe conditions
  • Ensures the safety of ODCHC Staff entering and exiting the centers to and from the parking lots
  • Cordially greets visitors and patients upon arrival. Ascertains patients’ and or visitors’ needs and directs them accordingly
  • Facilitates giving directions to appointments and special assistance as needed
  • Responds to emergencies and stat calls
  • Responds to ambulance calls and assists in directing EMT’s
  • Enforce No Smoking, No Skateboarding Policies and Handicap Parking laws
  • Escorts Visitors when requested
  • Escorts Staff to vehicles when requested
  • Participates in incident and accident investigation
  • Assists staff with reasonable wheelchair transport within the facilities as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Good communicator (orally, and in writing) with professional attitude in order to promote good relations with staff, patients and visitors
  • Ability to follow written and spoken instructions
  • Must be fit and display an attitude of confidence and assertiveness.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must attend the ODCC sponsored De-escalation Training
  • Complete 2 hours of continuing education yearly (starting after the first year of employment).

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic or doctor’s office.

  • None

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to communicate (talk and hear).
  • Activities include sitting, standing and walking. These activities, to various degrees, extend through all work activities. Standing and walking are performed frequently throughout the work shift.
  • Activities require the employee to continuously and repetitively sit for long periods of time.
  • Activities frequently include lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Activities frequently require the employee to use hands & fingers, handle or feel objects or tools. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Kneeling, crouching, stooping and crawling are required on an occasional basis.
