Data Strategist 

Description

PURPOSE.

The Data Strategist is responsible for developing and executing a program that derives value from data and provides management visibility into data-driven insights that inform the business's strategic direction and KPIs. The position identifies and implements initiatives to improve the organization's data maturity. The Data Strategist acts as a subject matter expert in the design and recommendation of appropriate analytical approaches, models and methodology that address key issues within the business and leads the efforts to provide analytics solutions. The position leads cross functional projects to develop and implement appropriate data driven solutions that result in improved business performance and achievement of overall business goals. Additionally, the data strategist trains, develops, and mentors colleagues and provides consultation on the interpretation of data and analytics to various business partners throughout the organization.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES.

  • Develop analytics strategy that aligns with and supports business strategy and objectives
  • Deliver data-driven insights and recommended analytic solutions to functions across the enterprise
  • Lead initiatives to expand organizational footprint in emerging AI/ML technologies
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure analytic resources and development are aligned with business priorities
  • Lead collaboration with business functions and IT to identify, define and document analytic needs and requirements
  • Present data and analytical results to leadership audiences in a fashion that is easy to understand
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders to expand the use of data analytics across the organization
  • Drive collaboration and insights through the use of analytics that will identify opportunities, support decision making, and improve business performance
  • Manage the delivery and execution of data warehouses, including 24x7 support of Production environment
  • Manage the delivery of analytics projects
  • Leverage knowledge of Business Intelligence tools and capabilities to explore data and extract insights
  • Recommend reporting and analytic solutions to solve business challenges
  • Query data comfortably to provide information and meaningful insights to internal customers
  • Design and develop analytic models, reports, dashboards, and visualizations
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics or applicable related field
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics and business analysis with proven experience of delivering data insights and predictions
  • Ability to translate business problems to analytical solutions and insights
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present concepts and data
  • Ability to lead projects and work cross-functionally
  • Knowledge of statistical programming languages and tools (e.g. R, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of common programming languages, architectures, and tools (C#, .NET development)
  • Knowledge of data wrangling tools (Alteryx, SSIS, Data Services)
  • Expertise querying large databases/data warehouses with SQL
  • Exceptional critical thinking and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively and manage multiple projects/assignments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instructions
  • Self-motivated and highly adaptable to change

Working conditions.

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines
  • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions
  • Occasionally move up to 20 pounds of office objects
  • Occasionally attend meetings in buildings adjacent to corporate office requiring travel in outdoor weather conditions, and occasionally attend meetings at off-site locations with varied internal and external conditions; occasionally ascend/descend stairs.
