Job Description and Qualifications
Franklin Road Academy’s after-school program serves students in grades Pre-K3 through middle school. We are looking for a reliable, responsible and friendly person who is enthusiastic about working with children and desires to grow in the field of Education. The Assistant Director of Extended Care will work closely with the program Director to ensure smooth operations and oversight of our Extended Care and After School Enrichment Program for Lower School students. We need individuals who have had previous experience working with or supervising groups of children in a variety of settings such as camp, classroom, etc. This job provides invaluable experience for those who are committed to working with children long-term (i.e. future educators, counselors, social workers, physical education).

 
Position Requirements

Extended Care Responsibilities (10 months)

  • Assist with the development and implementation of the After Care Program
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
  • In the absence of the Director assumes responsibility for the safety of children enrolled in After Care by teaching staff to follow first aid procedures, report incidents/illnesses and how to implement the FRA Action Plan
  • Maintains CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Works to insure all children are safe, comfortable, and included
  • Assists in hiring After Care Staff and supervises staff to insure After School Programs standards are met
  • Meets regularly with the Director of After School and Summer Programs
  • Maintains the Tennessee Department of Education (DOE) Binder
  • Maintains an accurate tracking system for After Care Check-in
  • Orders snacks for After Care
  • Supervises Extended Care as needed. Supervision includes but is not limited to ordering snack and planning activities
  • Keep supplies and equipment in good shape, including maintaining an orderly storage closet
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Input daily attendance in our digital system and record student dismissal times. Assist director with student dismissal.

Summer Programs Responsibilities (2 months)

  • Proofread/edit all programming material
  • Assist with the staff application and interview processes; assist in creating all staff and instructor handbooks
  • Assist with weekly staff schedules
  • Assist parents and community guests with program registration
  • Monitor staff and campers during lunch service
  • Face-to-face interaction with parents, staff, campers, and guests; assistance with office pick-up and drop-off, camp rotations, and counselor needs
