Job Summary:

The Field Safety Professional position is responsible for supporting, educating and engaging within Field activities to support safe and production accomplishment of project related objectives. This position supports projects throughout the United States and requires travel on a three week on/one week off rotation.

Duties:

  • Participate in the pre-job analysis of project specific hazards and development of Health and Safety Plan and project safety execution plan.
  • Review and investigate project specific safety objectives related to client and/or jurisdictional requirements and apply mitigation procedures aligned with Safety department and organizational goals.
  • Perform Safety Orientation to newly hired individuals in accordance with departmental and organizational procedure.
  • Provide Safety Training to individuals in accordance with training and certification
    • Provide Position Specific training in accordance to level of certification, including but not limited to:
      • First-Aid/CPR/AED
      • OSHA 10 / OSHA 10 ETD
      • OSHA 30
      • Basic Rigging and Signaling
      • Safe Excavation
      • Basic Helicopter Safety
      • Forklift Training
      • PPE Use and Compliance
    • Provide Project Specific training as identified and required, including but not limited to:
      • Project Specific Health and Safety Plan
      • Project Specific Fire Tool Compliance
      • Project Specific PPE Use and Compliance
    • Identify and investigate training which may be conducive to continuous organizational improvement
  • Perform and participate in revision of Safety Audits which, are intended to support collaboration with safe and efficient project execution and to proactively identify compliance with organizational expectations and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Partner with Project Leadership to develop a process to anticipate, identify, evaluate and correct hazardous conditions and practice.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of tools, equipment and PPE on assigned locations to ensure on-going compliance with expectations.
  • Foster a culture of reporting significant occurrences within the workplace which assist in proactively and/or reactively identifying factual information, lessons learned, opportunity for process improvement and/or revision.
  • Complete Daily Safety Report for each assigned shift summarizing activity related to project support including but not limited: identification/mitigation of hazards; summary of organizational compliance with project expectations; summary of project related personnel attitude and approach towards safety.
  • Immediately intervene, execute and support Stop Work Authority when safety violation of unmitigated hazardous condition is observed/present.
  • Support initial response to any injury, incident or near miss involving employees and/or equipment, supporting collection of factual information including but not limited to:
    • Observations related to location - weather, conditions and other applicable
    • Initial investigation and collection of factual information from witnesses to incident
    • Participation in analysis of event, causal factors and corrective actions
  • Perform Industrial Hygiene monitoring and maintenance or records in accordance with certification/training.

Additional duties as assigned in accordance with training/certification:

  • Aviation Support
    • Coordination of activities related to verification of approved Helicopter Subcontractor compliance with:
      • Quanta Aviation Standards
      • Project Related Aviation Standards
    • Coordination of activities related to verification of Helicopter Subcontractor Pilot Qualification and compliance with:
      • Quanta Aviation Standards
      • Project Related Aviation Standards
      • Demonstration of competence in performing Crux specific tasks
      • Experience, hours and skill requirements as outlined within Crux and Quanta standards
  • Occupational Health
    • Development and support of organizational approach to Occupational Health including but not limited to:
      • Participation in review of Safety and organizational policies and procedures impacting Occupational Health identifying areas of opportunity for improvement, education, and compliance.
      • Review, evaluation and assessment of health facilities supporting work related injury/illness; drug and alcohol testing; emergency rescue procedures.
      • Consultation and review of work-related exposure, illness, injury in accordance with level of training and medical legal compliance
        • Coordination of organizational response and support to work related injury, illness and exposure
        • Coordination with outside providers to ensure organizational understanding of worker condition, limitations, restrictions and compliance with plan
      • Consultation and review of site- and project-specific potential for work-related exposure, illness and injury and identification of potential mitigations.
 
Position Requirements
  • OSHA 510 Standards for the Construction Industry Required within 6 months of Hire
  • OSHA 500 certification (preferred);
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer (equivalent) Certification
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Construction Safety.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Ability to work in environments involving traversing steep slopes; helicopter transport in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to independently and apply appropriate safety mitigations with significant independent judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to identify safety exposures and develop mitigation practices.
  • Ability to provide presentation and training to a variety of audiences.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, clarify and execute written and verbal instructions.
  • Travel requirements: shift work up to 75% of calendar days.
  • Prior experience in drilling/construction industry with responsibilities related to safety management and risk mitigation.
