Description

Role and Responsibilities:

The Junior System Administrator (JSA) will be assisting the Systems Administrator with the provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of server systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The JSA will work with multiple Microsoft based domain environments. The JSA will be accountable for Windows server and desktop systems. Must be able to work independently and/or on a team and be willing to interact with other group members and users at all levels of the organization.

This technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. Expected to train and be assisted by lower level technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead efforts to ensure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
 
Position Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years of experience managing Windows Server Active Directory
  • 1-2 years pf experience managing Windows Server Group Policies
  • 1-2 years of server architecture, applications and security experience 
  • 1-2 years of experience troubleshooting system and user problems
  • 1-2 years pf experience with DoD Cyber Security (CS) policies and tools
  • 1-2 years of experience with basic networking like DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, IP addresses, and User Profiles
  • Must be able to accommodate 15% travel
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret Clearance

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • 2-3 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields
  • Capable of explaining simple procedures
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology Field
  • MCSA Windows Server 2016 - 2019
  • PowerShell scripting
  • VMware VSphere
