Description

Urban Teachers is seeking a Data and Assessment Coordinator for our Baltimore program to assist the leadership team in meeting organizational goals in the areas of resident and teacher performance and retention, school and district satisfaction, and overall program operations. This position reports to the Director and/or Assistant Director.

Location:

  • We are currently remote due to COVID-19 and the DAC should follow guidance from our National office regarding returning to the building. While we are still remote, the DAC should expect to work remotely and visit the office as needed with the approval of their manager (Director) and/or the ED. If/when we return to the office full-time, the DAC will be expected to be in the office as well.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As the the Data and Assessment Coordinator, you will support the program administration and data analysis of the Urban Teachers Baltimore team in a way that maximizes the team’s effectiveness and enables the team to reach its goals. Additionally, you will support the Baltimore leadership team in the areas of resident and teacher performance and retention, as well as in school and district satisfaction.

Operations Support

  • Work with the Executive Director to create and maintain databases to meet office needs

Data collection and project management

  • Maintain all site-based data in electronic databases (Salesforce, Box, Asana); monitor record keeping procedures for accuracy, including quarterly audit of participant data
  • Partner with Urban Teachers’ Director of Performance and Evaluation and program staff to manage and maintain data from the field in support of three accountability gates: clinical performance, professionalism, and student achievement gains
  • Partner with the Director of Performance and Evaluation to prepare Urban Teachers’ Maryland State Department of Education Annual Report
  • Assist in the development, administration, and collection of surveys, forms, and questionnaires, ensuring 80% completion rates
  • Manage, maintain and verify all cohort information for current, new and prospective participants
  • Manage Fall and Spring student assessment cycles for first- and second-year teachers, including hiring, training and supporting contractual test monitors and temporary assessment administrator (Note: this duty is on hold for now pending org re-evaluation of current assessment)
  • Manage new school partnership relations as they relate to assessment and data collection
  • Manage AmeriCorps grant compliance at the site-level
  • Manage participant termination and resignation protocols
  • Support the team with special projects as they relate to participant data and feedback
  • Ensure that necessary data is uploaded to meet required reporting tasks and timelines for reporting.

Data analysis and policy development

  • Verify data from National surveys (and site-based surveys if available) to ensure accurate analysis and reporting
  • Analyze and interpret data sets from multiple sources and make findings relevant to site-based strategic goals and district and state-level stakeholders
  • Keep the leadership team data-driven and support them in identifying progress towards strategic goals
  • Support Urban Teachers’ Development Team with its outreach to funders, advocacy organizations, and policymakers through data reporting on teacher placement
  • Conduct district-level and state-level analysis on partner schools
  • Carry out regular analysis and quality control checks on all data.

Certification management and compliance

  • Manage the state teacher licensure process for residents and fellows from Resident Teacher Certificate through Standard Professional Certificate
  • Maintain data tracking tools to confirm that teachers submit proper documentation in compliance with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
  • Collaborate with the school district certification team to ensure proper licensure
  • Assist with Urban Teachers’ accreditation with the MSDE, including serving as team representative at state-sponsored Maryland Approved Alternate Preparation Program (MAAPP) meetings
  • Support
  • Stay abreast of ALL updates to state certification policy, including Praxis testing and EdTPA requirements.

Team Support and Culture:

  • Actively work towards increasing staff satisfaction and inclusion by helping create an office culture that fosters collaboration, appreciation, and celebration.

Summer Institute

  • Support the operations/moving of materials for site team staff into the summer institute venue (office materials)
  • Support the ordering of office materials and branded items for Summer Institute staff and participants
  • Ensure overall smooth operations for summer programming
 
Position Requirements

We are seeking a highly-driven individual who can thrive in a fast-paced urban setting. The successful candidate will have a deep belief in Urban Teachers’ mission and also have the following skills and qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of school-related experience, preferably in a high-need setting.
  • Experience and expertise in database management, design and implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at report writing and presenting findings.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel

Preferred:

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and problem solve in accordance with established procedures.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Box and Asana (strongly preferred, but not required)

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and are competitive with major nonprofits.
