SMT Operator

The SMT Operator is responsible for the operation, quick change over, program adjustments, autonomous maintenance and minor repairs to the surface mount technology equipment; for the purpose of achieving the factory goals for efficiency, cost reduction, high quality and work environment safety.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

- Conduct the daily work activity assigned to the surface mount technology equipment that shall include: the operation, quick change over, program adjustments, autonomous maintenance and minor repairs. Coordinate these activities by means of a team effort with the Team Leader, MOL Engineering, Maintenance Manager, Tooling Manager and other shop floor leadership.

- Maintain 100% of daily activity on the shop floor

- Complete the assigned work tast as outlined by the SMT schedule at the posted production rates and suggested production quantities

- Prepare next production run in advance of event while simultaneously running SMT production

- Follow all standard work documentation as posted

- Maintain documentation for production output, part request, scrap, reel-feeder addressing and downtime issues

- Complete the assigned autonomous maintenance schedule as requested

- Conduct work assignments in a self-directed work manner efficiently and effectively

- Assist other departments in achieving their business goals for quality, cost reduction and safety.

- Embrace lean manufacturing operating principles to achieve customer satisfaction and operating efficiency. Develop operating systems and methods that aim at the continual reduction of waste, inventory and defects

- Develop and maintain housekeeping practices to ensure a safe and clean workplace; furnith the workplace with only the necessary equipment and tools to complete the production or maintenance task

- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor



Position Requirements

- Associates degree in electronics preferred

- Three or more years work experience with the programming, operation and autonomous maintenance of SMT equipment

- Three or more years work experience in a lean business system environment, with experience in quick set-up and changeover practices

- Capable of reading and modifying AutoCAD generated prints. Able to read circuit board print out.

- Experience in electronic board troubleshooting

- Physical capacity to occasionally lift 30 to 75 lbs.

- Physical capacity to stand 100% of the work day

- Experience in using Microsoft Excel to document reports and assembly aids

- Experience in inventory control

- Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as needed
